The performance of the original FL5 intercooler cannot keep up with the amount of heat generated, even in full normal conditions as the intake air temperature may reaches 50-60°C in the high rotation range of 6000RPM or higher. 

The FL5 turbo has high output with the amount of heat generated by the turbine and other associated components are extremely high.

Insufficient cooler core capacity and fin limitation problem will make it difficult for air to flow out when driving especially in the piping and intercooler. 

In addition to engine cooling measures such as the thermostat, sports coolant and aero parts, increasing the intercooler capacity = increasing the heat exchange rate.

Improving the turbine flow speed will result in stable output in the high rotation range and a significant increase in output.

Realize this great potential, J'S RACING started joint development with DRL (Daiwa Radiator Manufacturing Co., Ltd.) to develop promising intercoolers.

In addition to the output test using Dynapack, J’S Racing also conducted actual driving tests on circuits, streets and adjusted the fitting. This  resulted in a product that can be replaced with a genuine product without any major modification.

As a result, J’S RACING have achieved a cooling effect of approximately 5°C or more at the minimum intake air temperature and approximately 15°C or more at the maximum intake air temperature under full normal conditions! 

By making it lightweight, J’S RACING had minimize the impact on overall driving performance by avoiding as much weight as possible in the front overhang, where the intercooler is mounted.

This J’S RACING Hyper Intercooler for Civic FL5 is compatible with genuine turbines as well as big turbine kit replacement vehicles.

For optimal heat exchange, every detail has been carefully designed. The complex structure with fins built into the tube, rather than the typical multi-hole structure, is the result of DRL's advanced technological capabilities.

This Hyper Intercooler from J’S Racing indeed reduced unnecessary air resistance and draws in smooth air and durability in flow.

The rectangular fins with increased core structure and strength improved the overall performance and agility.

The structure where the outer fin and the tube containing the inner fin are optimally spaced. 

Their orientations are crossed, allowing air to cross and pass vertically, is a new shape derived from various simulations.

The outer fin has a highly strong design by folding the edges and creating a double structure on the surface that is exposed to the wind. The weight was significantly reduced for the fins without making them unnecessarily thick.

In order to eliminate unnecessary air resistance and make it easier to attract running wind into the core, running wind is efficiently sucked into the outer fin from a convex tube with rounded corners. 

In addition, the tube convex part has a triple structure made of aluminum material, reducing fatal damage from tire debris and flying stones. 

Since the intercooler is easily damaged, J’S RACING have taken measures to maintain high performance with a uniquely shaped plate.

The intake side of the header plate is designed with a plump, with a good gentle curve in order to reduce the resistance. This will allow the maximum amount of air flowing into the core from the inlet pipe and minimize internal pressure loss.

**The biggest weakness of the L502S was the rubber hose between the turbine and the air cleaner, which was weak and long.

**The rubber hose repeatedly contracted during full boost driving, making it impossible to obtain stable boost pressure.

Simply replacing the air cleaner body will cause fluctuations in boost pressure and you cannot expect stable power.

1. This is the APR Open PEX Intake System; the best dollar-per-horsepower intake system for your 1.8T/ 2.0T EA888 GEN 3 Engine.

2. APR had maximized performance and sound dramatically by reducing pressure drop and increasing airflow. 

3. This translates to more horsepower and torque with less physical strain on the turbocharger. 

4. The system looks great, sounds amazing and produces more horsepower and torque you can feel. 

**Flow Bench and Power Testing: The factory intake system simply can't match the performance of APR intake system. 

5. The full factory frontal airbox only flows 521 CFM at 28" of H2O. APR had improved this by 60% with APR open airbox, which flows 833 CFM by comparison.

6. However, it's important to always look at the intake system as a whole as flow numbers alone don't always speak to the broader picture. 

7. The factory turbocharger can only flow just under 400 CFM through the factory opening and an intake system will lessen the maximum flow. 

8. In this case, the full factory system brings the flow down to 275 CFM, or 31% less. 

9. However, the full APR System (Open airbox, rear pipe and turbo inlet pipe) bring the flow down to 345 CFM, which is only 13% less or a 25% improvement over stock. 

10. This will directly translates to more power you can feel. The APR full bolt-on APR Tuned S3 saw max gains of 12 AWHP and 13 AWFT-LBS of torque using the full intake system compared to stock.

11. APR Open PEX Intake System does away with the closed airbox design and uses a massive 7" washable and reusable cotton filter with a frontal inlet and 4" rear outlet. 

12. This was necessary to limit pressure drop across the factory system and maximize airflow while allowing you to fully hear the engine breathe.

13. The massive filter provides excellent filtration. By oversizing the filter, APR had able to limit pressure drop without sacrificing filtration. 

14. This is made possible through the use of greatly increased filter surface area. The PEX material gives the intake an OEM feel and it allows APR to make a complex and organic heat shield shape that keeps hot air pushed through the frontal radiator away from the intake tract. 

15. The PEX retains heat less than other materials such as metal, making it ideal for performance. 

16. From all of above improvements; these are indeed solid gains that make a noticeable difference in performance for your  EA888 GEN3 engines.
