Wavetrac Pro 28T LSD for Honda B16 (28-Spline DSS Axles): Civic SiR, CRX Del Sol VTEC, Integra 60.309.260WK
Technical Analysis
Product: Wavetrac Pro 28-spline limited-slip differential · Part number: 60.309.260WK
The Wavetrac Pro LSD is a drivetrain upgrade designed to improve how a front-wheel-drive Honda transfers engine torque to the road.
For a B16-powered Civic SiR, CRX Del Sol VTEC or Integra, its purpose is not to generate additional engine horsepower, but to help the car use the power it already has more effectively.
The engineering question is simple: when one front tyre loses grip, can the differential still help deliver useful torque to the tyre that has traction?
1. What makes the Wavetrac Pro different?
Open differential — standard design
When one front tyre loses traction, the differential can struggle to deliver useful torque to the tyre that still has grip. This can waste acceleration out of tight corners.
Wavetrac Pro — torque-biasing design
Its helical gears and patented wave-profile mechanism help maintain torque transfer when one driven wheel becomes lightly loaded. This is especially useful when accelerating out of uneven or tight corners.

3. The real performance advantages
A. Better traction under acceleration
The LSD helps the front tyres share useful driving torque according to their available grip. The benefit is most apparent when a conventional differential would allow one tyre to spin.
B. More consistent corner exits
A front-wheel-drive car can put its power down more consistently when exiting a bend. The LSD does not automatically eliminate understeer; tyres, alignment, suspension and throttle control remain important.
C. Stronger drivetrain architecture
The Pro model’s 28-spline interface is intended for compatible upgraded DSS axles. It is not simply a stronger replacement that can be installed with every factory driveshaft.
D. Gear-type LSD characteristics
Compared with a clutch-type LSD, the helical design generally avoids clutch-pack wear and associated clutch-pack servicing. Correct gearbox lubrication and inspection are still necessary.
4. The critical compatibility issue
Do not choose this differential based on the B16 engine code alone.
The 60.309.260WK is specifically intended for a B16-compatible gearbox with a 4.33-inch ring-gear bore and 28-spline DSS axle hardware. It is not intended for the standard factory axles without the matching interface. A B18 gearbox using a 4.60-inch ring-gear bore requires a different application.
Before selecting parts, the transmission, ring gear and axle configuration must all be confirmed. A differential upgrade cannot compensate for incompatible transmission components.
5. Is it a worthwhile engineering upgrade?
The key benefit is improved use of available engine torque, rather than a horsepower increase. Its value depends on the car’s intended use, transmission configuration, tyre grip and existing drivetrain condition.
The differential is the final torque-distribution mechanism between the gearbox and the driven tyres. Improving its ability to transfer torque can make the car’s existing power more usable, without changing the engine’s output.
