1. Brushed motor fuel pumps create heat due to the brushes rubbing against a commutator.
2. This rubbing wears away both the brushes and the commutator. This makes the fuel pump a wear item like brake pads and rotors.
3. Additional heat is also generated by the pumping process and add pressure to the fuel.
4. Brushed fuel pump output is usually static based off input voltage (battery voltage) and the pump is running at 100% duty all the time.
5. At most time, heat is caused by the friction of the rubbing and also giving constant pressure for fuel.
