FEEL'S HONDA TWINCAM SUPER TORQUE CONVERTER FOR HONDA CIVIC EG6 FEELS-00396

FEEL'S HONDA TWINCAM SUPER TORQUE CONVERTER FOR HONDA CIVIC EG6 FEELS-00396

FEEL'S HONDA TWINCAM SUPER TORQUE CONVERTER FOR HONDA CIVIC EG6 FEELS-00396

The FEEL’S Honda Twincam Super Torque Converter (FEELS-00396) is a highly specialized automatic transmission upgrade developed by Honda Twincam (FEEL’S) exclusively for Honda automatic transmissions.

Unlike a stock torque converter, it is modified to deliver a more direct driving feel, quicker acceleration, and improved drivability.

Key Features

  • Designed for automatic (AT) EG6-based drivetrains
    • Compatible with Honda automatic transmissions used in the Civic EG series.
    • Requires your original torque converter as the base unit for modification.
  • Higher Torque Multiplication
    • Internal modifications increase the converter’s torque multiplication ratio.
    • More engine torque reaches the wheels during launch.
    • Faster standing-start acceleration.
  • Improved Stall Characteristics
    • Allows the engine to reach a more effective RPM before fully coupling.
    • Particularly beneficial for high-revving Honda VTEC engines such as the B16A.
  • Reduced Shift Shock
    • FEEL’S optimizes hydraulic characteristics to produce smoother gear engagement while maintaining a sporty feel.
  • Better Drivability
    • Stronger pull from low RPM.
    • Easier hill starts.
    • Better response when carrying passengers or cargo.
    • FEEL’S also states that improved torque transfer can help fuel efficiency during normal driving.

How It Works (Explanation)

A factory torque converter behaves like a fluid coupling:

  • Pump (Impeller) → driven by the engine.
  • Turbine → drives the transmission.
  • Stator → redirects oil flow to multiply torque.

The FEEL’S unit modifies internal geometry and hydraulic characteristics so that:

  • torque multiplication is increased,
  • converter slip is reduced once moving,
  • launch becomes more aggressive,
  • engine reaches its powerband faster before lock-up.

Think of it as giving an automatic Honda much of the crisp throttle response associated with a manual transmission, while retaining the convenience of an automatic.

Advantages

✅ Faster launches

✅ Better throttle response

✅ More direct connection between engine and wheels

✅ Smoother gear changes

✅ Stronger acceleration without increasing engine power

✅ Excellent for naturally aspirated VTEC engines

Best Applications

This converter is ideal for:

  • Daily-driven automatic Hondas
  • Street performance builds
  • B16A-powered EG Civics
  • Mild turbo setups
  • Drivers who want improved acceleration without converting to a manual gearbox

Things to Know

  • It is not a simple bolt-on replacement in most cases; FEEL’S specifies that your original torque converter is typically modified, and it cannot be processed if it is damaged.
  • Installation should be performed by an experienced automatic transmission specialist.
  • Using fresh ATF and ensuring the transmission is in good condition is strongly recommended.

Honda FL5 Type R Titanium Valved Exhaust System - Yonristic Performance

The Honda Civic Type R FL5 Titanium Valved Exhaust System by Yonristic Performance is a premium cat-back exhaust designed to improve sound, reduce weight, and enhance exhaust flow while retaining everyday drivability.

It is available in either T304 stainless steel or Grade 5 titanium, with OEM-compatible or remote-controlled valve options.

Technical Analysis

1. Grade 5 Titanium Construction

  • Approximately 40–45% lighter than a comparable stainless-steel system.
  • Excellent corrosion resistance.
  • Higher stiffness than stainless steel, producing a sharper, more exotic exhaust note.
  • Lower weight behind the rear axle slightly reduces polar moment of inertia, helping turn-in response.

2. True 3.0-inch Mandrel-Bent Piping

  • Constant internal diameter maintains exhaust gas velocity.
  • Reduces backpressure compared with the factory exhaust.
  • Benefits include:
    • Faster turbo spool
    • Improved high-RPM breathing
    • Better throttle response
    • Increased power potential for tuned engines

3. Electronic Valve System

Two configurations are available:

  • OEM Valve Control – integrates with the factory exhaust valve control system.
  • Remote Control – allows the driver to manually open the valves completely regardless of drive mode.

Valve closed:

  • Quiet cruising
  • Reduced cabin drone
  • Suitable for daily driving

Valve open:

  • Maximum exhaust flow
  • Louder, more aggressive sound
  • More pronounced turbo whistle, crackles, and overrun.

4. High-Flow Resonator

Rather than simply making the car louder, the resonator is tuned to:

  • Reduce drone around highway speeds.
  • Maintain a deep exhaust tone.
  • Preserve the distinctive Honda high-RPM character.

5. Triple-Tip Design

The FL5 retains Honda’s signature triple-exit layout.

Yonristic enlarges the outer tips while keeping the center outlet functional for:

  • Improved exhaust gas distribution.
  • A fuller exhaust tone.
  • More aggressive aesthetics.

Tip finishes include:

  • Chrome
  • Burnt titanium
  • Gloss carbon fiber
  • Matte carbon fiber.

Performance Potential

Manufacturer claims include:

  • Improved exhaust flow.
  • Sharper throttle response.
  • Weight reduction (especially with titanium).
  • No ECU tune required.
  • Bolt-on installation using factory mounting points.
  • Compatible with the OEM rear diffuser.

Actual horsepower gains on an otherwise stock FL5 are likely to be modest, typically in the single-digit horsepower range. Larger gains generally require complementary upgrades such as a high-flow downpipe, intake, intercooler, and ECU calibration.

Advantages

  • Lightweight Grade 5 titanium option.
  • Electronically controlled valves for quiet or aggressive operation.
  • Reduced exhaust restriction.
  • High-quality TIG welding.
  • OEM-like fitment.
  • Premium motorsport appearance.
  • Excellent platform for future performance upgrades.

Possible Drawbacks

  • Premium price (starting around US$2,499 depending on configuration).
  • Titanium can produce a slightly raspier tone than stainless steel.
  • Performance gains without supporting modifications are relatively small.
  • Less established track record than long-standing Japanese brands such as HKS, Spoon Sports, Mugen, or A’PEXi.

Fluidampr 08.5+ VW Golf TSi/08-13.5 Passat TSi/08.5+ Audi TT TSi Steel Internally Balanced Damper

The Fluidampr Steel Internally Balanced Damper (Part No. 551231) is a premium performance harmonic damper designed for Volkswagen Group EA888 TSI engines.

Unlike the factory rubber harmonic balancer, it uses viscous fluid technology to absorb crankshaft torsional vibrations over the entire RPM range.

Key Features

  • Viscous harmonic damping for superior vibration control.
  • Internally balanced design, making it suitable for engines that are internally balanced from the factory.
  • CNC-machined high-strength steel construction.
  • Black zinc corrosion-resistant finish with engraved timing marks.
  • SFI 18.1 certified for high-performance and motorsport applications.
  • Maintenance-free sealed design.
  • Made in the USA.

Benefits

  • Reduces harmful crankshaft torsional vibrations.
  • Helps protect:
    • Crankshaft
    • Main bearings
    • Timing chain
    • Oil pump drive
    • Accessory drive components
  • Improves ignition timing stability at high RPM.
  • Can recover small amounts of horsepower and torque otherwise lost to crankshaft oscillation.
  • Particularly beneficial on Stage 2, Stage 3, hybrid turbo, or big turbo TSI builds.

Compatible Vehicles

This damper fits many VAG models equipped with EA888 TSI engines, including:

  • Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk6
  • Volkswagen Passat
  • Audi TT
  • It also fits numerous other EA888-powered Audi A3, Audi A4, and related Volkswagen models depending on engine variant. Always verify fitment by engine code or VIN.

Technical Explanation

A four-cylinder turbo engine naturally produces torsional crankshaft vibrations every time a cylinder fires. As engine output rises through higher boost, more ignition advance, and increased cylinder pressure, these vibrations become stronger.

A conventional OEM harmonic balancer uses a bonded rubber ring tuned for stock operating conditions. Over time, the rubber ages, hardens, and becomes less effective—especially on modified engines.

Fluidampr instead uses a free-floating inertia ring suspended in silicone fluid. As the crankshaft twists, the inertia ring lags behind, and the silicone fluid converts vibration energy into heat.

This allows the damper to continuously adapt across the RPM range rather than being effective only at a narrow frequency.

The result is:

  • Better crankshaft stability.
  • Reduced fatigue on rotating components.
  • Improved durability during sustained high-RPM operation.
  • Increased reliability for engines producing significantly more power than stock.

For enthusiasts running upgraded turbochargers, aggressive ECU calibrations, or regular track use, a Fluidampr is considered one of the best long-term engine protection upgrades because it reduces stress rather than simply adding horsepower.
